Off-white in living room walls

A living room with off-white walls

Here we see off-white in action, on the walls of this spacious and bright living room. As we can see, it differs from white remarkably, but neither saturates nor loads the space, it simply dresses the walls with elegance, combining with everything else, because as it belongs to the range of whites, it is a neutral color.

You don’t have to be an expert decorator or an interior designer to combine this color, although if that’s what you want, here you can take courses and official Master’s degrees in decoration and interior design to become a professional.

How to make the bone color

Luckily for us, the off-white color is very easy to do. We only need white paint and some dyes, depending on the nuance we want to give the color. I explain:

  • On white paint, we add a few drops of ocher dye and stir until we see that the white has been tinted.
  • We must not dye the white too much or we will go over and create a beige or any other earth tone. Remember that what we are looking for is an off-white, stained white.
  • Once we have tinted the white with beige, we carefully add a few drops of black dye, to reduce the ocher, and permanently stain the white, thus achieving bone white.
  • Once the off-white is obtained, we can add other nuances from there.
  • If we want it to be more brown, we add a few drops of brown dye.
  • If we prefer it to be a more off-white, then we will add a few drops of black.
  • If we want it to be a yellowish off-white, we will need to add a few drops of ocher dye.

And so we will do with any nuance that we want to add.

Of course, remember, do not go overboard with the dyes or you will go over saturation with the color, and you will not get a broken white, or bone, or egg, or any type of white, but another color.
